Winona will take up the bulk of the main level of the layout and will feature several large grain operations.
Yard Information
- C&NW Yard: This yard will be used primarily as a Grain Marshalling yard and will server 5 large grain operations.
- Milwaukee Yard: This is a small yard next to the depot that will store cars for transfer to Bay State Milling as well as the C&NW.
- GBW/BN Joint Yard: This yard will be used to transfer cars between all four railroads as well as hold cars for delivery to Winona Lumber, Winona Plastics and Watkins.
- Bay State Milling Yard: A 4 track yard served by both the C&NW and Milwaukee Road to hold grain cars to be spotted by the crew operating a GE 70-ton switcher.
- Froedtert Yard: A small 3 track yard served by the Milwaukee Road to hold grain cars t obe spotted by the crew operating a GE 44-ton switcher.
Industries
- Bay State Milling: Receives grain and ships out flour.
- Froedtert Malting: Receives grain and ships out malt.
- Watkins: Receives household products and ingredients to make other products.
- Winona Wholesale Fruit: Receives fresh produce in insulated box cars for local sale. Was purchased by Rochester Wholesale Fruit in the late 1980's.
- Winona Lumber: Receives lumber for local sale.
- Winona Plastics: Receives plastic pellets and ships out finished plastic products.
- Cargill Elevator: Receives grain and loads it into barges.
- ADM Elevator: Receives grain and loads it into barges.
- ADM Fertilizers: Receives potash and other materials to make fertilizer.
